Hortoinfo reported Oct. 5 that Spain remained the EU's largest melon supplier in 2025/26, with 235.11 million kg. Spain's volume was 31.06% of the 756.95 million kg EU member states took in. The season ran from August 2025 through July 2026.

The figures come from Euroestacom (ICEX-Eurostat) and use TARIC code 080719 for melons. They count what EU member states received from each origin. EU countries, including the Netherlands and Italy appear as suppliers, so the totals include trade between member states.

Spain's 235.11 million kg is 42.33% below its 2016/17 volume, a steeper fall than the 30.57% drop in the EU total over the same ten campaigns. Spain's share shrank as a result.

Spanish melons averaged €1.04 per kg in 2025/26
Hortoinfo valued Spain's 2025/26 shipments to EU member states at €244.82 million, which works out to an average of €1.04 per kg across the whole season. The EU's melon imports as a whole were valued at €805.09 million, or €1.06 per kg. Spain's price sat just under the average.
How 2025/26 compares with 2024/25
The 2025/26 window ran from August 2025 through July 2026, while the previous season's ran from September 2024 through August 2025. August 2025 sits in both.
