SPAIN, Murcia's regional agriculture department reported that the region's table grape exports reached a record €292.46 million in 2025, up 19% from €245.94 million in 2024.

He added that the trend has positioned Murcia's grapes as a reference product across Europe and in a growing number of international markets. Germany remained the top buyer, with imports valued at €67.42 million in 2025.
UK Imports of Murcia Grapes Double in 2025
UK imports of Murcia table grapes more than doubled in 2025, rising 109% to €56.28 million. The UK has overtaken every other market apart from Germany, making it the region's second-largest export destination.
France, Portugal, and Netherlands Post Steady Gains
Growth also continued across other established European markets.
France's imports rose 39% to €24.04 million. Portugal's climbed 28% to €18.32 million. Dutch imports grew a more modest 11% to €34.13 million, keeping the Netherlands as Murcia's third-largest market.
Valencia Fruits, a Spanish produce trade publication, reported the growth was driven largely by strengthening demand in the UK, France, and Portugal.
Germany remained Murcia's largest table grape market in 2025 at €67.42 million. The UK followed closely, at €56.28 million, after that market's imports more than doubled. The Netherlands, France, and Portugal rounded out the top five, together accounting for another €76.49 million in sales. The five markets combined made up about 68% of Murcia's total table grape exports for the year.
New Seedless Varieties Back Region's Export Growth
The current season's table grapes come from 7,452 hectares of cultivation, producing 236,705 tonnes in 2025. More than 90% of Spain's total table grape output comes from Murcia, which is also Europe's leading producer of seedless varieties.
Murcia's Institute for Agricultural and Environmental Research and Development (IMIDA) has developed 20 new seedless grape varieties to date.
The work was done with the region's Table Grape Research and Technology Society (ITUM). Buendía credited the collaboration between researchers and growers with opening new opportunities for the region's farmers and companies.
Murcia will host the XI International Table Grape Symposium from September 28 to October 2, 2026, bringing together researchers, growers, and marketers from around the world.
